Arrival and Departure
The morning extended day session begins at 7:00
a.m. Children cannot arrive prior to
this time. The afterschool extended day
program ends at 6:00 p.m. If you are
unable to pick your child up on time, please make arrangements with a friend or
family member, so that your child can be picked up on time. Please make sure that the person picking up
your child is listed on the information card. Students will not be released to
anyone not listed on the information card. All adults must present picture I.D.
daily when signing out students. Due to safety, students cannot be signed out
until 3:30.
Late pick-up policy: If a student
departs after 6:00 p.m., the parent will be assessed a late charge of $1.00 per minute. This fee will be due by the close of the next
school day. Failure to pay late pick-up
fees or 3 late pick-ups and your child will be withdrawn from the program.
Payment
Payments are made prior to
services being rendered. Your payment is
considered late five (5) days after the due date, and a $15.00 late fee will be
assessed. The extended day directors
reserve the right to terminate services if your payment is not received by the
start of the payment period. District
policy states that students may not remain in the program unless their account
is paid up to date.
Checks
need to be payable to Abess Park Elementary.
All checks must include name, address and telephone number imprinted on
the front of the check. Your child’s
name should be included on every check.
If your check is returned for nonsufficient funds, you will receive prompt
notification from Check-Redi. Payments
need to be made to the Extended Day Director during extended day hours. The main office or classroom teachers cannot
accept Extended Day Payments. All payments must be made during extended day
hours. When paying with cash, please
remember that Extended Day does not keep cash on hand and therefore cannot make
change.
Students enrolled in the middle of a payment period
will pay for the remaining number of weeks in the payment period. There are no daily rates. Payments are based on 180 school days. Fees do not include holidays, teacher
planning days, etc. The last day of
school is a half-day. There will be no afternoon
extended day on the last day of school, June
10, 2016.

Early Dismissal Wednesdays
Students
enrolled in the afternoon extended program will automatically be dismissed to
their extended day class on early release days at no extra charge. Morning extended day students will be allowed
to stay until 3:30 p.m. at no charge after filling out an Early Dismissal
Registration form.
Snacks
A
snack must be provided by parents
daily. Snacks may not be bought from
vending machines at school.
Enrollment
Changes
If
you need to change the sessions your child is attending, please notify the
directors in writing. This includes
adding your child to another session.
Please do not send your child at a different time before checking with
us. We must enroll them in a class
(space permitting) and make adjustments to your account.
Withdrawals
Please
notify the extended day directors in writing if you need to withdraw your child
from the program. Please state the
effective date of withdrawal so that we may settle you account. Please note that we cannot guarantee that
space will be available if you want to reenroll your child at a later
date.
Property
Children
are responsible for their own belongings. Students will not be permitted to
return to their classroom for forgotten items. Please write your child’s name
on all his/her belongings. Do not allow
your child to bring items to extended day that are not allowed normally at
school. These include but are not
limited to toys, electronic devices, video games, etc.
Homework/Study
Policy
Students are given homework and study time during
a.m. and p.m. extended day. . Morning and afternoon students will have homework
and study time. Extended day staff will
assist students but understand that your child may not finish all their
homework during extended day. If a
student does not have homework, he/she will be encouraged to read quietly. Please ensure that your child has an
appropriate book in his/her backpack at all times. Parents must notify the extended day
director, in writing, if they do not want their child to do homework during
extended day.
Discipline
Policy
Extended
day students are expected to follow all school rules as well as the Duval
County student code of conduct. Extended
day students are expected to:
1.
Follow directions
the first time they are given.
2.
Show respect for
others.
3.
Clean up after
themselves and take care of materials and supplies.
4.
Keep their hands,
feet and other objects to themselves.
A
student will be referred to the Extended Day Director if he/she has chosen to
continually break the rules. Students
will automatically be referred for fighting, battery, defiance, and continual
disobedience.

referral: Written notification to parent and a warning

referral: Written notification and a
parent conference with director
·
3rd
referral: Written notification and one
day suspension from extended day
·
4th
referral: Written notification and one
week suspension from the program
·
5th
referral: Written notification and dismissal from extended day
Communication
Please
remember that both Extended Day Directors are classroom teachers and are only
available to conduct extended day business during Extended Day hours. To leave
voicemail messages for the directors during school hours please call
220-1260.
